Junior Jessica Kardish's "2014" Wins 1st Place at Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts

Junior Jessica Kardish's stunning masterpiece, 2014, has won 1st place at the prestigious Laguna Beach Festival of Arts. Last May, 2014 was chosen from 1,000 submissions to compete at the LBFA. We salute this talented Lion artist on her big win!

​

2014 is a pen and ink portrait composed entirely of words that explore the feelings of the subject.

​

 

"I had the pleasure of seeing Jessica's work displayed at the festival last week before it was honored with a blue ribbon," said JSerra Visual Arts Department Chair and Arts Magnet Director Monica McQueen. "Virtually everyone who passed by it stopped, studied it, and was visibly affected by its evocative power and technical excellence. I'm so proud of Jessica's artistic evolution and can't wait to see what she creates next year!"

Kardish is a student in the Arts Magnet Program and is on the Drawing and Painting track.
